About Treatments

Acupuncture, which originated in ancient China over 2,000 years ago, is one of the most widespread healing systems in the world. It involves the stimulation of special points on the body using fine needles, moxibustion (heat), pressure friction or other techniques. Acupuncture balances and facilitates the circulation of blood, fluids and the flow of Qi, or energy, through specific pathways of the body, optimizing its ability to heal injury, illness and dysfunction.

Chinese Herbs

Consultation and recommendations of Chinese herbal remedies which may be helpful in supporting your healing process.

Craniosacral Therapy

This is a gentle, noninvasive form of bodywork that addresses the bones of the head, face, spinal column, and sacrum. The goal is to release compression in those areas and to balance the cerebral spinal fluids, which alleviates stress and pain. This work is often used in my clinic as part of a combined session with acupuncture.

A traditional method of creating a vacuum on the patient’s skin with a glass cup to dispel stagnation of the blood, lymph, and muscular tension, thereby improving circulation. It draws pathogenic factor to the surface of the skin to treat various types of respiratory conditions, including common cold, pneumonia, and bronchitis.

Secondary Vessels Treatment

This technique addresses obstacles to healing which are found in our deeper consciousness. This can be particularly helpful in treating cases of stress, anxiety, abuse, depression, and post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).

Qi Gong Breath Work
Qi-Gong Breathwork: This is a form of meditative practice with its origin of history going back over 4,000 years. This particular practice is known to put the brain in Theta state, which is common in shamanic journeys. Unlike the sitting practice, this method can be done while standing, lying down, walking, or gardening. I was taught this particular form from a Zen practitioner in 1993. Practiced daily, this meditation can transform our inner perception and transform our lives. Individual and small group trainings are available.
Deep Tissue Structural Bodywork
This form of manual therapy is incorporated as part of a combined session with acupuncture. Over 50 years ago, Dr. Ida P. Rolf developed Rolfing Structural Integration, a hands-on method for myofascial release to realign and balance the whole body, with the incorporation of her background in Hatha Yoga, Osteopathy, and Biochemistry. Deep Tissue Structural Bodywork is a lineage of her teachings. It is also known as Neuro-Muscular Re-education, a somatic therapy developed in the 1980’s. I completed my training in 2000 with Garnet Dupuis, at the Massage School of Santa Monica, who founded the method with Craig Nelson and Bill Williams, a student of Dr. Ida P. Rolf of the Rolf Institute. Traditionally, it is a 10-session Structural Integration series, with each session dedicated to specific region of the body, thus releasing and balancing the entire system of movement and structure.

I had the pleasure of working with Sarah for a 6-12 month span on my back and some emotional issues stuck in my body. She is absolutely amazing. It really helped me break through some very tough emotional issues that I wanted to move past. I also feel like it opened up my heart in a new and amazing way.

She has such an amazing way of being with people and helping them move forward. I can't say enough good things.

Rachel F., Brooklyn, New York, NY

I did an acupuncture treatment with Sarah in June of 2015 when we were both residents at Harbin Hot Springs. I had never done acupuncture before, but I heard that the benefits of acupuncture are not only physical, but mental, emotional and perhaps even spiritual.

After Sarah asked me a few questions about my health and checked my heartbeat, she asked me if I had any particular health conditions or trauma from my past that I would like treated. I told her that I lost my mother to breast cancer when I was only 3 years old. I knew this loss affected me in many ways, but I was not sure how and I wanted to know if there was anything that could be done to help me heal and feel at peace with her loss.

Upon telling here this, Sarah knew exactly what the needle placement should be. It did not hurt at all and was very relaxing. I had this sensation like a giant iceberg was moving around my body and just before the end of my hour long treatment, it felt like the iceberg shattered into a million pieces. It felt wonderful!

I asked Sarah afterwards what she had done and she said that she placed the needles in a way that facilitates bonding with and being complete with yourself. After my treatment, it became clear to me that my mother never left me, and that she is in every single cell of my body. My relationship with her is now alive and well.

The other huge benefit I got from my acupuncture treatment is that since then, I stopped experiencing feelings of loneliness. I know that sounds a little weird and I don't know exactly how this happened, but I know Sarah's acupuncture treatment had a profound and lasting affect on me and I am so grateful for what she did.

If you have any physical, emotional or mental health concerns, or even if you are just curious about acupuncture, I highly recommend that you go and see Sarah. She is amazing and I can't thank her enough.

“Sarah is the first acupuncturist I have liked in many, many years! She is extremely gifted in her work, I feel no pain whatsoever, and get great results! She has a calm demeanor, and gives you her full attention. When I see her I feel cared for, respected, and listened to. She is able to adjust my sessions to meet my needs. As an industry professional in sports and medical massage therapy myself, I am happy to refer my clients to Sarah! She's the one!”
